Who is Travlinmad?

It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be. The more I become aware of, the more I realize how relatively little I know of it, how many places I have still to go, how much more there is to learn.
— Anthony Bourdain

We're Lori and Angelo — the writer/photographer team and slow travelers behind Travlinmad.

This travel blog has grown and evolved along with us since its inception in 2008.

Then, it was simply our travel journal / photography blog and a means of staying in touch with friends and family when we traveled.

We’d pop into internet cafes, order a coffee while we logged in on dial-up, and upload our whereabouts and a few pics until the next stop on our travels.

2014年,Travlinmad成为我们的全职工作!

A lot has changed since then but one thing has remained constant with us — our travel style.

Amazingly, we slow traveled back then before it was even calledslow travel今天,我们仍然这样做。

We were never backpackers but far from luxury travelers — we couldn’t see spending big bucks for levels of service we didn’t want or need.

Now that we’re older and more established however, we appreciate a touch of luxury now and then.

We also prefer that our money directly benefits the local economy, so we tend to stay in locally-owned boutique hotels and B&Bs.

Today, over 375,000 travelers read our (now 3) travel blogs every month for trusted travel info based on firsthand experience, and inspiration to plan their own independent travel.

After 30 years and countless journeys together, we’ve learned a few things:

  • Travel doesn’t have to be expensiveto be amazing, so that it’s just aonce a year— or worse, oncein a lifetime— experience.

  • Planning independent travel doesn’t have to be a herculean taskand can be a fun part of the journey. You don’t have to travel with large tour groups of loud strangers (unless you really want to).

  • You shouldn’t have to rush. An entire country in one week? No thanks …we prefer totravel slow.

  • Travel isn’t about collecting countries.如果你真的佤邦nt to experience a place, spend some time there. A 5-hour cruise ship excursion ashore won’t show you a country, and is more likely to show you the worst part of an otherwise lovely place.

Like Anthony Bourdain, the more we travel, the more we realize just how little we know about the world.

We’d rather have immersiveslow traveland188app that lead us to meaningful connections, not exhaustion — the kind of experiences that inspire us to travel even more.
